Have Questions?
What's the difference between therapy and coaching?
Therapy heals the root; coaching builds performance and leadership skills. We’ll guide you to the right fit.
What is a typical therapy appointment? What will we do in therapy?
Appointments are for 60 minutes. The sessions are held once or twice a week, which depends on your specific situation and therapy goals.
My role is to assist you in making the life changes that you identify. I am here to support you as we do this challenging work together. My therapeutic approach involves some skills training, some work outside of therapy, and a lot of interactive dialogue. We sit. We talk. We vibe.
Do you offer in-person appointments?
I offer a limited number of in-person appointments in South Austin.
The great benefit of virtual appointments is that they allow us to connect anywhere in Texas with secure, convenient appointments that save you time and hassle. There’s no need to deal with traffic when you can schedule and attend your appointments directly from a laptop or mobile device.
What payment methods do you accept?
We accept all major credit/debit cards, as well as HSA/FSA. I require a valid credit or debit card to be added to your file before your initial session using your secure client portal. NOTE: Your card WILL NOT be charged. A “Credit Card Authorization” form must be signed. Your card will be charged at the time of the service.
What benefits can I expect from working with a therapist?
Counseling offers a variety of benefits such as improved mood and reduced stress, however, there are no guarantees. During your phone consultation and initial appointment, it will be important for us to fully explore your expectations and goals. Part of my job is to help you identify what is possible and not possible to achieve in therapy. I will also help you define specific goals and outcomes.
Do I have to relive everything?
No. We move at your pace, with safety first.
Do you offer a sliding scale or a reduced fee?
No, I do not. I offer session packages as a way to save on session fees. Visit here to see the savings.
As a Black woman, how do you approach therapy for Black men?
I provide a space where you can drop the “armor.” Many of my clients find that working with a Black female therapist allows them to be vulnerable without feeling judged or misunderstood. We tackle the specific pressures of the Austin tech scene, corporate leadership, and intergenerational patterns with “zero translation needed.”
What should I expect in the first session?
We get clear on goals, pace, and what “better” looks like for you.
What is Virtual Counseling?
Virtual counseling involves providing face-to-face mental health services and support via secure electronic means of communication, such as phone and video conferencing.
Do you accept insurance?
I am in-network with Aetna Insurance.
Note: Using in-network benefits means your insurance provider can dictate your treatment by limiting the number of sessions, requiring a mental illness diagnosis, and maintaining access to your treatment records.
Want to work with me, but I don’t take your insurance? No problem!
Special note for Curative Health Members:
I am not “In-Network” in the traditional sense, but I am an Approved Provider for the Curative Cash Card. This is actually better for you: it allows you to see me at my full private-pay rate of $200 with $0 out-of-pocket cost, avoiding the typical “limited session” restrictions of traditional insurance. Learn more HERE.
For all other insurances, you may have out-of-network benefits, which means that insurance will reimburse you for a portion of our session cost, possibly 50% or more for each session. I have partnered with Thrizer to handle the out-of-network process automatically for you. Check your out-of-network benefits with Thrizer.
However, there are a few great benefits to paying privately or via Thrizer.
For example:
Privacy: The insurance company wouldn’t have access to sensitive information in your record; reduces potential harm to certain careers.
Freedom of choice: The insurance company can’t dictate your care; you get. todecide the type of care that is best for you.
High deductibles: Many plans have high deductibles. Benefits usually kick in after you hit that deductible; may actually save money by paying out-of-pocket.
